Graduated in Veterinary Medicine (1999) at the State University of Northern Rio de Janeiro (UENF), has a Master's in Immunogenetics (2001) and a PhD in Applied Immunology (2005) from UENF. He did a PhD internship at Seoul National University, South Korea. He is currently Assistant Professor III at the Federal University of Espírito Santo, coordinator of the Multiuser Nucleus for Nanoscale Imaging and Structural Characterization at UFES (NICEnano). He has experience in the field of electron microscopy, acting mainly in the following subjects: applied immunology and synthesis and characterization of metallic nanoparticles for biological application. He is currently developing nanobiotechnology projects. He advises master's degree theses in the Graduate Programs in Biotechnology and Biochemistry and Pharmacology, and PhD thesis in Biotechnology at RENORBIO. He is the current coordinator of the Graduate Program in Biochemistry at UFES and president of the Brazilian Society of Microscopy and Microanalysis.
Associate Professor of Physics at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). His research focuses on the study of tribological and mechanical properties of materials at the nanoscale. He has a Bachelor's degree in Physics from the Fluminense Federal University (1992), and a master's degree (1994) and a PhD degree in Physics from the Brazilian Center for Physics Research (1998). He was a postdoc at PUC-Rio, studying the correlation of mechanical and tribological properties of carbon-based materials, and at Arizona State University (ASU), studying modes of mechanical deformation in semiconductor materials. He is interested in understanding the mechanical and tribological properties of a wide variety of materials, ranging from atomically thin 2D materials, to nanostructures, semiconductor crystals, and rocks. He has been developing projects in the field of atomic force microscopy (AFM), lateral force microscopy (LFM), force modulation microscopy (FMM), ultrasonic atomic force microscopy (UAFM) and nanoindentation. He acted as coordinator for the Graduate Program of the Department of Physics (2004-2006), coordinator of the van de Graaff Laboratory of the Department of Physics at PUC-Rio (2003-2014), and is currently the Director of the Department of Physics.
Bachelor and Master in Computational Physics with a PhD in Biomolecular Physics from the Institute of Physics of São Carlos-USP, having conducted a PhD internship at the Imperial College London (England). Post-doctorate in electron cryomicroscopy applied to structural biology (Cryo Electron Microscopy of Isolated Particles – Single-Particle Cryo-EM) at Imperial College London between 2006 and 2008, with an internship in software development for the Analysis of Isolated Particles at Image Science (Germany). In 2010, he was hired as a researcher by the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS/CNPEM) to implement the research line in Electron Cryomicroscopy and Analysis of Isolated Particles. He is currently a researcher at the Brazilian Nanotechnology Laboratory (LNNano/CNPEM), working in the same research field.
Graduated in Biological Sciences (2005) at the Teacher Training School of UERJ; Master's (2007) and PhD (2011) in Science - Biophysics (Cell Biology and Parasitology Program) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro; and Post-doctorate (2012) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FCM) at UERJ and is part of the permanent faculty of the Graduate Program in Microbiology and Parasitology at FCM. He is a fellow of the PROCIÊNCIA program at UERJ and Young Scientist of Our State - FAPERJ. He has experience in human and veterinary parasitology, working mainly on the following topics: helminthology, morphology, parasite-host interaction, integrative taxonomy, trichuriasis, microscopy, 3D modeling, and health education.
Graduated in Materials Science and Metallurgy at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (1993). She has a Masters in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1996) and a PhD in Metallurgical Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (2001), with a sandwich PhD internship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and post-doctorate also at MIT (2001). She worked as a visiting scientist at MIT in a project linked to the company NanoC (2005-2006) and is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at UFRJ. She has experience in Materials Engineering and Metallurgy, with emphasis on Ceramic Materials, Phase Transformation, and Transmission Electron Microscopy, working mainly on the following topics: nanomaterials, photocatalysts, hydrogen storage, ceramic materials with negative thermal expansion. She has published 40 articles in indexed international journals.
